“What is Holding You Back?”

Overcoming fears in taking your blog & platform to the next level!

There was a questioned that loomed over my head as I started my blogging journey.  The question was, “What is holding me back?” At times it was a matter of stepping out of fear and into faith.  My belief in my personal ability and talent that I knew was inside of me started to go dim. What am I doing? Who is actually reading what I am sending into this worldwide web? In launching this blog two years ago, I was terrified! Self-doubt tormented me in my ability to take myself seriously.  It stunted my growth where I approached my writing as a hobby. As all bloggers, we tend to compare our progress to one of your favorite more prominent bloggers. All the time! Why do we devalue our strength and allow these insecurities to overtake us? The feelings that I tried to deny that was there that slowed my progress.

I couldn’t shut off that inner voice that screamed, “What is holding you back?” In becoming the writer and blogger that you are destined to become….

Why did you start in the first place?

Sometimes, I have to remind myself why I started this journey in the first place.  I remember, starting Pecan Momma Tales because I had this overwhelming feeling to write.  I always used writing as an outlet of expression to get all of my inner feelings off my chest. It ran the gambit of sadness, loneliness, fear or strength. I kept a journal. Writing became my best friend to vent everything to where I wouldn’t have any fear of hearing my business being put into the streets.

The fire that keeps me going…

The mission behind the blog was to connect, guide and inspire other mothers that it is possible to live as their authentic selves.  Where we could be victorious mothers that can set a fire of love, compassion and magnetic leadership in our homes. This passion birthed out of the conversations, I was having with mothers that felt defeated in their relationships with their husbands and children. Just as many married women, we begin to get lost in the caretaking and lose sight of who we are at the core. Who are you? What do you want? Outside of being a wife and a mother before you said the words, “I do!”

Bad Situation Turning for Good

Just shy of two months ago, I received an email about a blogging course that has changed my life. I am not over exaggerating this is what actually happened.  I hesitated at first because I felt that I couldn’t afford the course.  At the time, I was working part-time at a position that I didn’t have that much job security in.  I danced with the decision in my head for a few days. It got to the point where I said to myself, “I had to take a chance and invest in me.” The crazy part is a few days later.  I was fired from the job.  I was devastated, to say the least. However, the Blogpreneaur course gave me a boost of hope for my future. I’m so glad I took that leap!

I knew that I needed a lot of work to be able to get the results that I was looking for in blogging.  I had to first change my perspective in how I seen myself.  Once that changed.  I applied what I learned in the course.  I immediately started to see a SHIFT! The page views in my blog started to increase.  My engagement on my long suffering Facebook page began to increase.  I started to receive more views and shares on my blog posts.  I learned thing that I didn’t know before. I was filled with a sense of accomplishment and so much joy!  I began to understand what my audience likes and wants to hear. I felt that I finally on the road to moving my writing and getting my voice heard.

As mothers, we want to see a change in our families on many levels.  One of my goals was to be able to be there for my children emotionally while I work on creating a second income.  I finally began to believe it is possible to see a change in our families financial future.  It is going to take time and some consistency.  But, I know as I continue to apply what I learned from the Blogpreneaur training course there will be a steady change.  As I seen in my engagement on my blog.

And, do you know what? This was the best decision that I made thus far!
